What a day.
(*yesss we do need rain, but what a nice change from last years "North Pole" Weather.)

I saw Lady bugs and I even went out this morn and raked around the yard. I just couldn't resist.

The last of the "iceberg" is gone from the deck. We have a metal roof, the snow slides off and forms an "iceberg" on the deck.

I pulled over wintered leeks from the garden this morning. The greens on the carrots are growing and the soil is thawed enough for worms to be at the top. There's still snow in the shade but it's easy to avoid by looking the other way.

We don't have a bit of snow around here now. Even in the woods, and all of the snow banks are gone too. The ground has been thawed out for weeks and I have seen worms crossing the driveway already.Perhaps I should put up a "worm crossing" sign! Heck its' 68 degrees out according to my thermometer!

Thank you for your post. I saw a mourning cloak here this afternoon, though I didn't know that's what I was looking at. When I read your post, I wondered if what I had seen was a mourning cloak- and it was. Here's a nice link to info on these harbingers of spring:

Mourning Cloak Butterfly (Nymphalis antiopa)

But...this is what I am patiently listening for, and when I hear them, I'll feel like it's really spring (and almost summer!) in Maine:
