I am considering to buy a townhome in Lincoln, MA. we like the house, but it is very close to the Hanscom airport (3000 feet to the runway). The community is called Battle Road Farm.
I am afraid due to the proximity to airport there is a noise problem and the resale value could be affected.
I know that the airport has been a concern for nearby communities in Lexington, bedford, and concord. I heard a "rumor" is that the airport is expanding its service and runway will be used more often.
Could someone pls share some opinion/input? Thanks so much.
I do know that commercial service has just started up again there last year. I saw my first billboard promoting a flight from Hanscom to philly the other day.
There's also talk that Hanscom will be closed down by the DOD for military budget cuts.
I think Battlefield Farm is lovely and so is Lincoln. I'd buy there in a heartbeat, airport or no.
We looked at houses in that area and the planes didn't seem bad. At the time, it was the occasional business and commuter jet. It wouldn't have been a terrible deterrent if we had found the right house. It can't be too bad as Kevin Garnett and others live in multi-million dollar homes on the other side of 62.
