I'm not very familiar with the area yet, but we've been looking to move to Salem for a year and are contemplating Marblehead now due to a lack of rentals in the Salem area that suit our needs. SO would be taking the train out of Salem for school in Boston. Is getting from Marblehead to the Salem MBTA station in the mornings difficult? Also interested in Beverly, Peabody, Swampscott, and any other neighboring towns to Salem. Trying to veer away from any that, while only a few miles away, may take a half hour just to get to the train station. Thanks.

Beverly and Peabody are bigger cities and would have more rentals available. Swampscott and Marblehead are smaller towns with fewer rentals. Swampscott has one train station with limited parking. Beverly has five train stations about 30 minutes from Boston. It's also a short 5 minute drive from downtown Salem, without the traffic going towards route 114 in Peabody, which is the only way from Salem and Marblehead to the highways and the malls. From Marblehead to Salem there is not much traffic, it starts in downtown Salem going towards Danvers and Peabody around rush hour. It would take about 15-20 minutes to get to Salem train station from Marblehead, and it could be longer from Peabody, depending on location.

Some people from Swampscott and Marblehead would drive 20-40 minutes to Wonderland station in Revere to get on the blue line, which is more frequent than train, and there is no need to switch trains at North Station if you are going to the Financial district.

Thanks for the info. He would take the train to north station and then the green line to his school so north station isnt a problem for him.

Depending on where in Marblehead, I would say 10-20 minutes to the Salem MBTA depot.
