Commute to Boston, Live where? $ not $$$$

Thank you for all the responses. We will look into the idea of working along I-95 and living in Pepperell, Groton, Shirley, Leominster, as one poster suggested. There probably aren't as many jobs in that area, as in Boston, but between the small selection here and whatever crops up along I-95, maybe he'll find something good.

In response to the idea that we should find the job before we worry about where we would live I have to say, I couldn't disagree more. We both had absent fathers thanks to 1hr+ commutes and demanding jobs, so anything over 30mins is completely unacceptable to us. Why would we waste the time and effort securing a job in Boston, only to later find out we can't afford to live there? And yes our cap really is $260k, there is what the mortgage calculator says we can afford and what we can realistically afford based on what we get to keep after taxes, medical insurance, life insurance, health savings accts, 401ks, and college savings. Then we get to pay a few bills too...we don't even have good cable LOL so it's not like we're living high on the hog
