Can anyone lend their opinion on the best MBTA pass for me?

I'll be staying in Lawrence and commuting to Boston from September 16th to October 11th. Every Monday through Friday I will need to commute via the train into Boston. When in Boston I will need to commute via the subway from North Station to Faneuil Hall. At the end of the day I will need to go back to North Station and then back to Lawrence. So the total days I need to actually commute are 20.

I was originally suggested to get a monthly MBTA rail pass for $275 (Lawrence is zone 6 I believe). However, a friend told me that the monthly passes are only for the calendar month as in September 1st to the 30th whereas I would want my monthly pass to start on September 16th. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

If the monthly pass is only for a calendar month then I am curious about the 10 day pass for $87.50. I am guessing the 10 day pass is for 10 consecutive days though, yes? If it is for 10 consecutive days then I would need three 10 day passes, which would cost $262.50.

Paying for a roundtrip ticket every day at ~$20 would cost ~$400. Ouch.

As for the subway, it is only $2.00 if I have a CharlieCard. I've been suggested two routes: take the Green Line from North Station and get off two stops later at Government Center Station or take the Orange Line from North Station and get off two stops later at State Station. Taking it twice a day for 20 days would be $80. I saw that a monthly subway pass went for $70, but again I wonder if it is for a calendar month or not.

Also I can't find it anymore, but I thought I read that certain rail passes (monthly and 10 day) included the subway so then I wouldn't need to spend extra money to commute on the subway. Yes, no?

I will be visiting a sales location next week, but I was hoping to get a bit of information beforehand. Thank you so much in advance.

Thank you scorpio516! I do not mind walking as long as the weather permits.

The monthly passes are calendar month.

The 10 day passes do not have to be used on consecutive days.

It's shorter to walk from North Station than to try and take the subway to Fanueil Hall, either at State or Aquarium stations.

Good luck!

Oh wow, it doesn't have to be 10 consecutive days? So I could purchase two ten days passes and be all set while saving money! Thank you SO much!

Sorry, I should have clarified...

The commuter rail offers a 10 RIDE pass not a 10 DAY pass. It's good for 10 1-way rides,

Oh! Alright, well then. I guess my best is to just pay roundway fair each day.

No, you're better off using the 10-ride passes. They are discounted versus paying as you go.
