Hi all, I'm looking for thoughts/opinions on Uxbridge. We live in bridgewater now and are looking to find a town with a more quiet, rural, good schools, family oriented feel to it. We are definitely not a "keeping up with the Joneses" type and would like to avoid that mentality, if possible my husband works in northern Rhode Island so Uxbridge would be a convenient commute for him. We want to find a house with a good amount of land (an acre at least) and have found a few options there. We're looking at houses around 500-550k. We are planning to take a drive out there this wknd but would love some input. Thanks!

From what I know, Uxbridge would be a very good fit for you.
Going through Uxbridge's downtown area is like stepping back in time - in a good way. With your budget, you won't be keeping up the Joneses; you'll be looking at them in the rearview mirror. I think the only houses in that price range there are relatively new McMansions.
Thanks for the help everyone.
thanks Casey, from what I've seen the elementary and middle were good, but I'll have to check the high school.
Partial observer, you made me laugh. We're going to take a drive out there today to look at a couple of houses being built in the mid 400's and check out the town.
I know two families who have put their kids through there (K-12), and have had nothing bad to say. In other words, real human experience can be more valuable than test score rankings when choosing where to live/educate one's kids.
