The fact of the matter is that even in towns west of Worcester, you won't find much for under $200K.

Not one I'd care to live in. In that price range I see much of the following:

- estate sales in disrepair (and no title V), likely a tiny post-war ranch or cape
- line 1 plus the following negatives: surrounded by poorly maintained rentals, on main road, terrible lot, flood zone, etc.

In my town (Sterling, 20 min north of Worcester) you can't really find a move in ready home until you hit the 220-230K range, but the recent listings/sales suggest that number might be 250-260k. For this price point, you're looking at a post-war ranch that's 1000-1,300sqft and has minimal updates.
