Looks like we'll have significant snow or sleet this Sunday. I have a 10 pm intl flight so will need to go to the BOS airport around 6 from Metrowest.

Has anyone used Lyft or Uber during snowstorm.... wonder if I can rely on these to get to airport. Thinking maybe i can book the SUV class of vehicle if the road look bad. Atcleast better chance avoiding being stuck somewhere enroute if I end up in a Civic or Corolla type of car. Any advice appreciated.

Depending on the intensity of the storm, there is a high probability that a Sunday night flight will be canceled or delayed. At any rate, you can still depend on ride sharing services during the storm, just expect to pay surge prices.

If the flight isn't cancelled, you could take the Logan Express bus from Framingham.

Sure I have. There will likely be surge pricing, but there should be availability.

And you can schedule a pick up in advance. That's what I do when I have an early flight. I book it the day before.

All that does is automatically make a request in the app at the time you want it to. It isn't "booking" anything. You'll get screwed if it takes a half hour because nobody accepts or if there is nobody available (quite possible depending on where in the metro west). You run the same risk with calling a taxi ahead of course, but on a snowy day I wouldn't count on things being on time. Just make the request extra early.

I did this last year when I took a flight home into Manchester and got in as a storm was starting. Tried to Uber and couldn't get much response. Actually ended up finding a taxi after about 45 mins.

I have a wedding Sat night. Uncertain how bad it will be around midnight, but original plan was to Uber it, but now i'm just going to forgo drinking and take my own car. When I want to go home, I want to go home NOW...not sit around twiddling my thumbs

If you are super concerned, you could also request an UberXL or whatever the Lyft equivalent is, which is likely to be a large SUV.

Typically it seems the drivers are smart enough not to go out when their vehicles can't handle it. But most are driving at least a midsized elantra, camry etc anyway

I prob will get the XL so a SUV shows up. But there are fewer of those than the reg variety so I have to keep an eye on the availability and plan on calling for 1 way ahead
... My flight is 10:10 pm, so prob need to get there around 7 pm to deal w TSA delays. Perhaps I'll book the car around 5:15 pm. So if it takes 30 min to arrive, I'll be in good shape. Drive is from Natick to BOS which usually takes 45 min but it could take 1 hr w the weather.
