Maybe it’s time to Just Accept we might get it? I’m ready for it. My 5 yr olds forehead felt hot Tonight. I felt it and he said what are you doing. Are your making sure I don’t have coronavirus? I laughed a bit and said yes. I told him he’d likely be ok if he got it but nana and papa could be in trouble. He said so I’d just have a cough? I said yep. We’re ready, we got this. **** you coronavirus.

I'm in CT and the end of the state that's next to NYC has been hit hard. One hospital has already been overwhelmed and someone also died there yesterday. So far this hasn't crept up to the rest of the state but it will. It's just a matter of time. I'm all for a lockdown in CT if this gets much worse. If/when this heads right though CT it'll be coming in your direction, MA people.

Yeah, there's an almost-good weather forecast tomorrow, and I'm headed to Plum Island. Have a nice long walk on the beach before we're all forced to stay home.

Anyone have contractor work scheduled? I have a handyman doing a small job this weekend, wonder if I should just cancel.

I'd definitely cancel if it's indoor work.

We're replacing the garage entry door and an exterior door in the mudroom so it's technically indoors. I guess there's no rush for it.

I think he is lying and doesn't want people to panic until they have everything in place. My technical boss, who never talks to me, came over yesterday and asked if I was in next week and if the rest of the work group was at home. I am in next week (but just next week) and the rest of my group is at home.

Then, he called a staff meeting for this afternoon (by phone)

Reasons we typically have a staff meeting are... big news -- government shut downs / transformer explosions in the building etc.

It also came with little notice. Not the norm.

But personally I would be thrilled to be home for a week.

“Lockdown” there doesn’t look that much different than what people are practicing here (in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville, anyway). Basically you stay home apart from essential shopping (groceries, pharmacy, etc.), you can also go out to walk a pet or go for a walk/hike in a park (just don’t linger or gather in a group). Public transit is still running even in “locked down” places in Italy and the Bay Area. It’s not even legally binding in CA. It may mean stricter enforcement of public gatherings and loitering (tickets/fines), and some clearer defining of what work is “essential,” but lockdown isn’t a drastic departure from where many of us already are.

I was scheduled to fly home yesterday and I cancelled my flight. Not because I'm afraid to fly, but because I think I'm better off here with my husband and daughter. Also, there's more food available here.
