We are a family moving to Massachusetts from Cherry Hill, NJ. I’m Looking for neighborhoods with a very good school district ( my kids are in 6 grade and 2nd grade ). Also, I would like to stay in a nice neighborhood with a decent Asian Indian population and Indian grocery stores , restaurants etc. After doing some preliminary research, I have come to believe that Shrewsbury, westborough, Southborough, Hopkinton would be good places. I was preferably looking for new construction homes around this neighborhood. Or maybe existing if they are nice.
Can someone please suggest good, safe neighBorhoods based upon the criteria I mentioned above( other than the ones I already mentioned ). Also a challenge I’m facing while looking for homes is that most of the good ones are selling out very very fast. Can someone please suggest some new home communities in these areas or the vicinity.
I would also welcome suggestions of any other nice towns ( very good school district ) maybe within a 25-30 minutes driving distance from these towns covering the criteria I mentioned.
Need to know where the job is and how much you can afford.
Yup, agreed.
As an aside, Cherry Hill isn't particularly Asian or Indian. Was that a major turnoff? And if I'm correct, I don't believe cherry hill has a little main street/downtown area. Is that something you'd like? Also, Cherry Hills is an inner ring suburb, and the towns you're looking at are not.. Meaning more sprawl. Is that OK?
My husband will be driving to Burlington ( can drive up to an hour ). Also we’d like to look at something in 900k-950k range.
You are absolutely right that it doesn’t have an Asian Indian community and for Indian groceries and restaurants etc We used to have to drive to central jersey.
I’m alright with suburbs with sprawl. No problems with that. Also, I don’t really need something with a downtown area access necessary.
I really appreciate the dialogue and would be open to answer any more questions. Thank u!
5 Indian restaurants listed for Burlington itself, 2 Indian markets as well as 1 in neighboring Woburn. Schools there are supposed to be good. I wouldn't live any further away than you have to. Finding newer construction around there might be a challenge though, is that something you are flexible on? Either way, the towns you mentioned sound a bit far and probably exceeding an hour during rush hour. A compromise might be the Westford/Acton area if you want more room/newer house with a fair size Indian population, that would still be a commute but not so extreme of one.

Spot on in the above posts. Consider Burlington itself. 13% Asian, and you surely can find a neighborhood with a large Indian population. Good schools, and would be zero commute.
If not Burlington itself, Westford/Acton is the best bet. Amongst the top performing districts in the State. Westford is 19% Asian vs. Acton which is 25% Asian. Looks like via my quick search, Westford is 10% Indian. If you do narrow your search in the area, Hitchin' Post Green is an established subdevelopment in Westford that is majority first/second generation Indian families. Homes generally in between $700-$1M. Lakeside development as well, $700-$1.2M. Greystone is also majority Indian, but is a bit less desirable/cookie cutter/blah.
Thank you for all the responses. I’m studying it all and will update with more along the way. thanks !
