Valuation - probably not.

Reputation - I think it does.

Apparently it was the opposing team, Plymouth North that reported the bad language.

Some words have power and yeah some are sensitive about it. Just like I wouldn't exactly say the word sherman in Georgia. English and German football fans sometimes have their chants. Usually Germans say 1966 (last time England won) then the response of Two World Wars.

Yeah it does have an impact in the rep and valuation. We can't say on this board that schools are a major factor in a housing valuation and then say it doesn't when something goes on for years. I'm not a liberal let alone a progressive but when I say that communities can't afford even appear to be racist it really does mean just that.

Prices have already dropped

On the market a week and already down 5% Selling for 2x the assessed value? yeah way way overpriced

Sold for 530K 18 months ago and now foreclosed? As is and don't bother the "tenant"?Seller never occupied? Huh?!? So you foreclose on a rental property that was never occupied by the tenant and is "as is" and you can't see it? What? If this was 50K in the middle of nowhere maybe but its about 660K? Why would a house go up 25% in 18 months if the owner didn't live in it and no repairs were made by the landlord?

priced well I'd argue on the market 25 days.

I'd argue that little things add up once you go over a million on a house. There's hardly any inventory in that town on the market so a drop in one price has weight to pull down others. Remember there's asking prices and then selling prices.

So you think the pricing dropped on those homes because of the incident with the football team that was released to public two days ago? Also one of those homes is in Marshfield

You cherry picked a few properties that were overpriced and had to drop the price - so what, that is how real estate works. I can find them in any town.

Doesn't look to be doing badly YoY

The game actually happened on March 12th. Sometimes people get a heads up when things reach the news, it was probably on social media beforehand. I didn't cherry pick a few properties. There's hardly that much inventory on the market. Zillow lists just NINE properties. So if it's a few well that's what the market is. Half the market is going down in price. If there were dozens of homes there selling I wouldn't see as much of an issue. We're not talking about some 300K house going down 5K because the paint is chipped. When you see high end homes dropping there has to more of a reason to do so.

The marshfield home is literally in duxbury. Come on look at the map you are in duxbury when you drive in either direction.

Looks like these folks really struggled to sell these homes:

https://www.redfin.com/MA/Duxbury/47.../home/16342466

https://www.redfin.com/MA/Duxbury/21.../home/16342578

Not to mention these ones pending:

https://www.redfin.com/city/29823/MA...ingent+pending

With the way inventory is and the fact that Duxbury is a seaside town with excellent schools I dont foresee anything changing.

The only times I've heard people not wanting to move to Duxbury is because it's too far from Boston/work or it's unaffordable.

We’ve had ‘elite’ districts in which numerous children have committed suicide resulting in a barrage of editorials, and yet valuations are market rate for a high performing district and reputation remains intact. Look at how many posters have inquired about Acton in the past year.

It’s a football coach. What percentage of Duxbury high even plays football? 4-5%? Of all the things which could impact valuations and reputation, this ain’t it.

Some time ago, fans in Foxboro tossed pennies in the field when Sharon was playing against them. More recently, a kid was stabbed to death at Lincoln-Sudbury. See a lot of bargains there, lately?
