Some years.
And it depends on if you mean city as a form of government or city as size (say 100k+). For cities over 100k, the top cities are always Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, and Erie. Usually Anchorage sneaks in there and a couple cities in Colorado.
Worcester is usually in the top 10. Average snow is around 70". Syracuse on the other hand is the snowiest metro area in the country, averaging 115" a year. Rochester only averages 99.5"

But in the last decade, Worcester has been anywhere from the snowiest city in the country (14-15) to outside the top 20 (18-19)

Well you can take Erie out of that list, it doesn't have 100k anymore.

I would give serious thought about the move. I grew up in Mass. and it can get very humid in summer. Rains a LOT in te spring. Traffic, especially I areas you mentioned is not going to be enjoyable at all. Winters can be rough, lots of ice. Taxes will be high, and if excersizing Constututional inalienable rights is important, you may want to avoid Massachusetts.

I grew up in the western part in the foothills, and it got too liberal, expensive, restrictive and UN-patriotic for me.

???

Are you talking about firearms regulations? Mass. is strict, but there are certainly worse states. New York is MUCH worse.

Mass has "foothills"?!?where and when was this.

In the Berkshires you can pretty much do whatever you want. Mostly for too hardly anyone there

as someone who has split time between Boston metro and the Mid Atlantic for more than 50 years IMO there is little difference in levels of traffic congestion and weather between NOVA and Mass. You'll get more snow in New England but also more heat and humidity than many would figure. There have been more than 20 days of temperatures at 90 or above in Boston already this year. Don't let anyone tell you that you don't need AC in the northeast.

Generally I grew up without air conditioning but these days I would concur you need air conditioning and at least one room of a house. If you can mount the window one and you can't get central air consider getting a portable one it's a little bit of work but for under $400 they should do the trick for one room. The other thing I intend to recommend would be a snowblower. I didn't know anybody growing up with them but by the time it was 2005 and onward most neighborhoods had at least one.

With respect to snow in Western New York one thing you also realize is that pretty much everything they have four wires above ground. It's like that way for a reason because if the ground freezes earlier than not going to be able to fix things as easily. In warm climates you see more in the ground and then called you see it more above

Hi,
I am a Realtor in this area and the towns you picked are all lovely towns but if you are looking for more home for your money towns like Westminster, Shirley, Acton etc are pretty good choices. They are all located off of Rt 2 which will bring you directly into Boston. If you look on https://www.schooldigger.com/ you can find more about the area and the schools.
