My former coworker had a screensaver on his work computer that said the word "TRiUMPh" exactly how it was spelt. Big deal? It's a free country and we are entitled to free speech. I was not going to criticize the man for his political leanings and no one else did either. Besides, my coworker was a friendly guy. I'm a lot more afraid of actual hate speech condemning individuals of any one group without cause than mere exclamatory slogans.

Apparently Boston Globe and the US Senate love hate speech - one racist nutjob was named globe’s person of the year, another just got promoted to US Attorney. Also your friend was very lucky, there are plenty of places where he would have gotten dragged to HR at the very least and possibly fired.

Yes, but the workplace is not a democracy nor a free speech zone. Most companies have rules in place to keep politics and religion out. And they tend to be applied evenly.

Evenly? You mean one gets promoted for complaining about ranting of a black woman?

Have no idea what you're talking about. Do you work in the private sector? If so, look up your employer's workplace rules...usually written in the code of conduct or equivalent...and report back.

I am talking about our unhinged racist freakazoid DA who just got confirmed as US attorney so sounds like those rules of conduct only apply to some but not others.

Your opposition to said DA is purely political, which is fair because she's a politician. However, we're talking about the private sector in terms of rules keeping politics out of the workplace.

Private sector you say? What about your best buddies Farrakhendi and Farrakhanel West? Their rhetoric makes freaks like David Duke sound relatively tame, yet they're getting a pedestal instead of a pink slip.
