For the results of this poll, assume that you already have found a job in your field closeby to whatever town you choose.

Not enough information. Will the local PD issue LTCs? What about ”Right to Farm” bylaws? Some people like to consume meat/eggs/milk from ethically/pasture-raised animals.

When I hear livable, i think:

Walkability
Public Transportation
Cost of Living
Public Education
Commercial Activity / Downtown
Public Amenities

E.g. Newton is very, very livable, minus COL. Rinse repeat in Massachusetts, which is plagued by major COL issues in “complete” suburbs.

Any place with reputable schools, walkability / density, and a notable amount of amenities, is out of reach for middle America.

As for this list, I’ll choose Waltham, largely because it’s in the epicenter of commutable jobs.

Curious how you selected those towns?

Out of those, I chose Plymouth. Some reasons for that"

1. Probably the most scenic out of those.

2. One of the the more affordable choices there.

3. Good variety of housing.

4 Just close enough to Boston to where you have easy access when you need the "big city", yet far enough "away" where you don't need to deal with the BS and daily headache. Pretty good atmosphere there.

5. Good amenities.

6. Well situated for a lot of my preferred recreation.

I also chose Plymouth. Similar reasons and also less densely populated which I now see as a benefit more so than in years past. It was a toss up for me with Salem. Nice, but forget it. People have been pouring in there for at least a decade now. None of them are necessarily places I would go looking for, but given the limited choice Plymouth is it.

Yeah very much this, and a big reason why I'd prefer it to Salem. And I'd blow my head off having to live in Salem during the month of October.
