Post covid and looking back I remember going into places like Borders and seeing tons of newspapers and magazines. Now obviously there are fewer and Borders is long gone but outside of a public library where does anyone still get anything?

Lately I've tried to check out gas stations...not much really. Convenience stores? Nope. Dollar stores? Nope.
Drug stores a tad for magazines but not newspapers. I'm thinking supermarkets are the only option at this point. If I occasionally wanted the NYT or WSJ this just doesn't seem that good

Is the one in Harvard Square still around or is that long gone?

You see them in some coffee shops and popular independent bookstores. Now that you've asked, OP, I'll keep my eye out for them.

I know there used to be a whole newsstand store in the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers that was all magazines, papers, and some books—very similar to an airport shop. It was right by the food court and a Marshall’s. Now I’m wondering if it’s still there…

Most people consume their news and magazine content over the web these days. I just don't know if the sales a retailer would receive would allow them to turn a profit if they stocked a lot of magazines and newspapers. I still seem to see some magazines at e.g. the supermarket, drug store, and a book store in town here (Jabberwocky), but the product inventory is a lot smaller than you'd see 20 years ago.

I still enjoy looking through a physical magazine to be honest, and for decades always had subscriptions to at least 3, but I only have one at the moment... usually buy some if I am traveling to amuse myself in the airport or hotel.

Barnes and Noble still has a huge magazine section.
At least the one that I was in the other day does (Leominster)
Flipped through Juxtapoz and Hi-Fructose, some Mother Earth News, Hot-VW's and ended up buying Thrasher.

Closed almost 3 years ago. Really sad because that was a very cool news stand with papers from near and far. Unfortunately, there's little unique about Harvard Square anymore. Like much of the world it's littered in chain shops and restaurants now.

Even airport shops have very little reading material now. Buying a magazine like The Atlantic or New Yorker or the WSJ for the flight was a nice feeling but can’t find them. Very small and boring selection. No newspapers at all.
I wish they would comebacks, including newspapers in coffee shops. it is as just nice to have them.

There are some half ass news stands around. For example Hudson News still maintains one at Logan. There is one inside the Longwood Galleria food court area. North Station has one and the financial district have a couple.

I think South Station has one too.
