It’s not just townies. There are also Brahmins, but they generally keep out of the popular zeitgeist and in the society pages.

I always thought I dressed well (Burberrys, Cole Hahn, Brooks Brothers, Pierre Cardin, Andover Shop) but those names sent me looking........LOL

What exactly is a Brahmin in Boston these days? This article is from 2006 and they’ve basically been phased out:

The majority of wealthy people in Boston aren’t even from Boston anymore or they’re in their 90s. A friend of mine has family that came over on the mayflower and she’s an ordinary person who got divorced and is now single, no big time family money. Many of the old money has been spread out around so many people.
