Can I borrow your boat next weekend?

I never said it's a lunar landing. I was refuting your claim that Sugarloaf/Carrabassett Valley is more inaccessible to stuff. Also, most locals despise the Black Dog.

The whole island hasn't been the same since the Clinton's started vacationing there. Too many NY'ers now.

Yeah I've heard that complaint many times over. It's probably even worse now.

I don't think I've been to MV in a few years (COVID and all). My in laws used to have a house near Katama Beach but they sold it probably 6 or 8 years ago now because the island had gotten so crowded during the summer. Pre-Clintons it was a much quieter place. Post-COVID with all of the NY'ers buying vacation homes all over New England, I'm sure it's even worse.

It depends on whether you're talking total tourist volume or expensive vacation homes. MVY in the summer is now stuffed full of business jets from Teterboro that didn't used to be there. License plates in Woods Hole getting on the ferry are still heavily Massachusetts.

NY is a bit of a longer drive. So totally makes sense that more NYers would choose to fly instead of drive whereas MA tourists would drive. Over the years, I did notice a strong uptick in NY/CT plates (Western CT should just be annexed by NY IMO ) but still plenty of MA tourists as well because it's so convenient.

About the same time my in laws sold their house, my uncle sold his house which was literally across the street from Katama Beach (INCREDIBLE location). The buyer (from NYC) paid him $4M said they might move a wall or two and ended up tearing the house down which was less than 10 years old.
