More than half of the bad bridges are in Western MA or Worcester County.

No surprise there. Most were designed to last 50 years, not 100. Seems like there's a water main break every week. Power outages are getting more frequent from blown transformers.

It's not just MA. Nothing like the joy of driving over the Tappan Zee before it was rebuilt.

I bet it is lower now than 10 years ago. There is bridge repair work being done all over, non stop, over the last 5 or so years.

Let's not also forget culverts. There's different definitions on what a bridge is between the state and federal government you could theoretically have a culvert from one person be called a bridge from another.

Not surprised....there was a bridge I had to cross commuting to s previous job in thr South Shore where I held my breath every time I drove over it. In fairness I dislike bridges generally.

"gephyrophobia" or fear of bridges is what I have. I will go miles and miles out of my way to avoid crossing a high bridge.
