...there’s always money for Afghanistan, operations in Iraq and Syria, aid for Israel and Egypt (and a host of other nations), stationing of troops all over the world, etc

But hey...let’s let the bridges rot!

Federal owned or state owned? Who is ultimately responsible for them? It's always a fight around to figure out who fixes the bridges.. County road, State hwy. It does seem that some don't like the responsibility

But you probably don't have any problem with illegals collecting billions in welfare and other free stuff every year, correct?

We are all responsible for them. These bridges belong to all of us.

Why would you say that?

We're blowing up bridges over there, then rebuilding them. Maybe it's just practice for constructing bridges here once they get the process down over there.

We've been over there for ages and haven't learned.

I was kind of hoping Trump would start a big infrastructure program. Instead the giant tax cuts to business and rich took away any monies.

It's not either-or. I'm opposed to wasteful military spending as well as freebies for illegals and immigrants.

Where does this kind of logic come from?

I'm not for social programs generally but I support infrastructure expenditures.

Trump was right in his state of the union speech last night. We do need to stop funding counties that are not our friends and we need to turn our attentions back to America.
We also need to cut down on the red tape and streamline projects instead of having them languish in the approval process for years.
Trump is used to getting stuff done. It has to be killing him to see how slow the government moves and how the Dems and Reps attempt to block each other at the expense of the nation.

My state of Mass. is a perfect example of this waste. We have had projects that go on and on for years and budgets that get blown up and laughed at. We have one of the highest per mile cost for highways at over $600,000 when our neighbors to the North such as NH can do it for under $200,000 and their roads are better and last longer.
There is a saying in Mass. that the unions use "Don't kill the job" yeah that is good for them but crushing to the tax payers.

The states and Feds need to get their spending in order. Most family homes are on budgets and when money is tight we don't supplement our neighbors so they can have a big 60" flat screen when we are watching a 27" ...
