I think political operatives from both parties, and the corporate establishment media, have evolved to become some of the lowest forms of life. Of course, the mother of all political games being played here is the one being played by the open-borders/lax immigration enforcement crowd.

Which is also a reflection on us the voters. Being a member of a democracy carries a great responsibility, one of which many (majority?) of us are neglectful of and were not educated with the proper critical thinking skills for.
Nice to see the man taking a leadership stance once in a while. But note that no town on Martha's Vineyard is a sanctuary city. The laugh is on DeSantis here.
Massachusetts is not a sanctuary state, Charlie Baker says feds must step up
Well there are eight sanctuary cities and towns in Massachusetts... Amherst, Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, Concord, Newton, Northampton, and Somerville. Plus churches are sanctuary sites.
Then there's this-
Quote:
On Monday, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court unanimously ruled that state court officers are not legally permitted to comply with ICE detainers. The logic of its decision extends to all commonwealth law enforcement officers—meaning that Massachusetts is now, effectively, a sanctuary state. While this is the first state Supreme Court to prohibit local law enforcement from honoring ICE detainers, it probably won’t be the last.

Yes and it truly is disgusting, although I don't think this in itself would qualify it as a "sanctuary state". Many states have sanctuary cities, most are not sanctuary states though.

I think the biggest problem is too many people who can't separate their duties as citizens from their need to be cool or to feel good about themselves all the time. It's sort of like the "parents" who forgo the duty of being parents because of a need to be the kid's friend and be liked all the time. Serious people need to make serious decisions.

"Open borders"? What a tired trope. 2M apprehensions and thousands of hard-working Border Patrol men & women would suggest quite otherwise.

I think the politics alone make it a de facto sanctuary state, even absent any official proclamation.
