The real question is why do you think its the more senior people that are earning less and are eligible for these affordable housing units, and even if they were, how is that a bad thing?
I don't think any of these police employees are eligible to be honest, senior or not doesn't matter. All the salaries I am seeing certainly don't seem to support the notion that they need an affordable, below market rate unit.

Ok, well then they'd certainly qualify based on those incomes. I also see plenty of teachers listed making $90K+.

Again, those are going to be more senior people with more education. And 90k is hardly a lot for someone with a masters and decades of experience.

wow. Naive much? Most of cops I know are Boston cops and state troopers many of who make 200k+. But I know Milton and Quincy cops who pull in 150k+ too.

I'm not sure on what the pay on the cape is like probably not as high.

Firefighters living in affordable housing is laughable as well. In boston they make about 200k and most have a side job where they make quite a bit too.

Starting salary for a Boston firefighter is in the mid 60,000s. Not exactly living well in Boston, and without a partner probably wouldn't be able to rent many places on that without a few roommates.

The starting salary means nothing. Basically everyone makes more than that. For cops it says it's around 75k. Basically no one who is a boston cop or firefighter makes 75k. The majority make more. Most new cops make 100k+ from doing details and OT.

Incorrect. The starting salary means EVERYTHING. It's the entire point that was being made.

The starting salary means its around what the newest people make. The notion that affordable housing may be used by new recruits. New cops, new teachers, new anything that's needed in a community. People don't get to the average, or the top, without being new at one point. That's the entire point of the discussion. The newest people need a place to live, ESPECIALLY in communities and in positions with residency requirements.
