wow. I'm somewhat surprised the owner of barstool sports has that much for a house. I figured he'd be wealthy but not 42M for a house wealthy

He sold Barstool Sports for 551 million.

...and he bought it back for a dollar!

He also makes a lot of money with his pizza reviews.

Nantucket is apparently the place to be if you're a rich white dude. Sheesh.

That number is a little high. He sold 51% to the Chernin Group for about $8 million. If he still owned the 49%, then he would have received another $230 million when it was sold to Penn. He did receive about 200K shares of Penn as well but the stock has tanked.

It's still stupid money and IMHO, spending that much on a Nantucket house is crazy.

Warwick, RI- where I grew up! I would say it used to be on the upper side of middle class in the 90s. It definitely wasn’t one of the best areas of RI but for a decently large city it was pretty well maintained. I noticed when I moved out in the early 2000s that everyone else seemed to as well. I noticed they closed one of the three high schools and I’m constantly hearing stories from friends and family who still live there about how things are slowly getting worse. It seems to me less people are sticking around to raise kids.

Maybe people are having fewer kids, if any, to raise.

So true. If you live in the northeast how can you afford to have kids with the COL?! The only two groups of people having kids for the most part are the super wealthy and the poor (including migrants). The latter are getting everything taken care of for them on the tax payer dime so why not have 3,4 or 5?
