We are thinking of relocating from Watertown to Dedham, and we are afraid we will miss the parks, Charles, green space. So, my question is, are there a lot of parks in Dedham? Is Stonybrook Reservation accessible? Does it have hiking trails or anything? Thank you in advance.

Default Thanks, but...

The DCR website provided a map of Stonybrook with parking areas marked, but when I checked Google Maps (a more recent view) there were only gates up with no parking signs in that areas that had been marked "Parking" on the DCR map.

So, I guess I am looking for current information about accessibility of Stonybrook from Dedham.

Thanks!

I don't know much about Stony Brook, but I think the DCR would indicate if it were entirely closed. You may be hard pressed to find parking, but I think you should still be able to take public transit there if you have to. Even if Stony Brook is entirely closed, there are a number of excellent parks in and around Dedham: Cutler Park on the Needham border, Wilson Mountain Reservation in Dedham, the Blue Hill Reservation in nearby Milton and even more if you're willing to drive a little bit west towards Dover and Sherborn.

Having moved from Belmont to Westwood (almost what you are considering) I would definitely say that there is more green space around Dedham than around Watertown--although perhaps not true of the particular locations you are looking at in Dedham and are coming from in Watertown. Where in Dedham are you considering?
