Hi All! I'll be visiting Sturbridge (family) in 3 weeks (tell me the fall color won't be past!!) and I am wondering if there is such a thing as a jewelry district in Attleboro or any other towns? I am a jewelry designer and looking for wholesale findings (particularly brass and copper) to use in my designs and to also sell retail. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

The only place I know of is this: Attleboro Jewelry Makers. It's right near the center. I don't think there is a district, per se.

I think Attleboro is historically a place of jewelry manufacture. I'd Google it or something. There likely is more than one place for you to check. Maybe it's North Attleboro?

This region of New England was known for Jewelry manufacturing historically. Providence has a large chunk of downtown that is known as the "Jewelry District." Pawtucket, Taunton, and yes, Attleboro have history with this as well.

However, the few jewelry manufacturers that do remain in these areas hardly exist in "districts." They tend more to be independent shops on their own... many outside the urban cores. The name "Jewelry District" exists in much the same way that Boston's "Leather District" does... as a historical reminder of what was; not what currently is.

I would use google to search for wholesalers. I don't know exactly what you're for, but Providence really had the region's historic Jewelry making industry. I'd check there (it's only about 15 minutes South of Attleboro on I-95) to see if there is any remnant of that industry there (post in their forum). The Jewelry Exchange in Sudbury, MA is known for being large and a good value.

Thanks to you all for the information; I've googled my brains out! I will visit the couple of manufacturers I found, and will check in Providence, too, and will check the Jewelry Exchange. In LA, there is actually a "jewelry district" that is still a wholesale district, which is why I was curious about the Attleboro area, given its jewelry history.

Ok, can someone tell me how the colors are? Are you already past peak foliage? I'm hoping there will be something left on October 23! Thanks!!
