Stats show serious crimes in Memphis on decline » The Commercial Appeal

"Stats show serious crime in Memphis on decline."

I can't drag and copy on my computer anymore. But this article shows the trend continuing of gradual increased safety.

For the malcontents: This doesn't mean we are where we need to be. This means we are going in the right direction.

For the boosters: Spread this positive news everywhere. Whatever has contributed to this trend must be encouraged, promoted. To inspire further progress. Except for some chronic complainers, even most malcontents I would venture would like to have fewer things to complain about Memphis, no?

Nope! Because we'll still be the #1 most dangerous city next year. It's this city's destiny. Plant crap seeds then you have a busted harvest.

Hey! Know what!? I bet the Greenline is responsible for this! Ghetto criminals are frightened by bike trails! All the old ladies walking with their sticks and 10 speed riders!? Those folks don't mess around!

Yes 80skid. The same magazine that admitted that it's own rankings were flawed. That it also left out Chicago b/c it didn't submit data. That's the same Chicago that had 30 people wounded by gunshots in one weekend. Also keeping in mind that Memphis and the state of Tennessee use the FBI crime tracking rules as a way to report crimes while other cities don't. Yeah, it's a fair list.

One of Memphis's greatest problems and it contributes to these stats for Most Dangerous is the traffic situation.

There is no traffic enforcement in this city. It's every man for themselves.

If they would enforce traffic violations they would decrease crime overall, for many criminals are also the ones commiting traffic violations.

It simply amazes me on a daily basis how many police officers I see ignoring flagrant traffic violations, they just seem to look the other way.
