Why hold on to the charter?? The Memphis City School Board had their chance. They've blown it consistently. Let's put the responsibility of funding schools on all Shelby County citizens. Let's stop thinking like Hazard County. Let's move towards being a big city for once. The Shelby County School Board is spreading fear. Don't fall for it!!! Black citizens, don't be duped by these back-water pastors/preachers/pulpit-pimps. They've held our communities down enough preaching victimhood. Don't let them do it to our children.

Don't let who do what to our children??

By the way, you're not winning any friends, making any sense, or making your case by using unsupported jibberish like "don't be duped by these back-water pastors/preachers/pulpit-pimps. They've held our communities down enough preaching victimhood." What in the world do you mean by that?!

Maybe you shouldn't reply if you don't understand the comment. You're a Collierville mom so I'd expect you to be against school consolidation. Notice I typed "Black citizens". They know who the "back-water pastors/preachers/pulpit-pimps" are. I would have typed white people if that's what I meant. In case you haven't been keeping up with current events, there's a group of black ministers who have been speaking out against school consolidation. Black preachers in black communities have a lot of influence on their members and how they view politics. Black citizens shouldn't be swayed by old school preachers using the same rhetoric from the 60's and 70's. I wouldn't expect you to know any of this since you probably don't live around many blacks, go to a black church, or have REAL black friends. Try being less smug next time too.

Maybe you should be more clear next time, I would wager a lot of people had no idea what you were talking about.

I take great offense to your implication that if don't live around blacks, I don't know what's going on.

Yes, I live in Collierville, and quite frankly I am undecided, but rants like yours don't help me want to support the merger.

btw, I go to The Life Church, take a look at the congregation any given Sunday and tell me what color you see. And I do have black friends, but that's not how I see them, I see the content of their character.

Anyone who's kept up with the debate knew what I meant. You obviously haven't.

You did acknowledge your "friends' " blackness so you do see color.

Also, are there any pulpit-pimps and preachers on the Shelby County School Board?? Maybe you're right. I should have started a new paragraph. Either way, I wasn't making any reference to white people holding black people down.

I don't know. Maybe there aren't enough blacks in Shelby County who can afford to live in Collierville.

Don't blame your fears on me. If I had children in county schools would I vote yes?? Yep! Why? Because my children would remain in those good schools and still get a quality education then go on to be well-educated, productive citizens. But this is Shelby County so this could be a complete disaster.
