There doesn't appear to be any construction out on the northern terminus.....just a dead end.

I guess Memphis is currently getting the shaft for I-69 funding (but not I-269) funding and I guess that one little section is part of it. It's a real shame....usually military instatllations like the one up in Millington have a large number of young employees stationed there for a year or two. Seems like better access to Memphis would open up the mid town housing market to people like that.

When I lived near Fort Gordon in Georgia, I noticed that the bulk of the housing rental market in much of that area were leased by DOD employees. It was enough to drive up housing prices in that area and probably support many grocers, bars, etc. Maybe that's not the same kind of situtation at Millington.

I am not sure how much validity there is to this, but I read commentary on another site that some issues with the northern extension of I-269 are related to how to route it out west of 51, yet not cause too much interference with Meeman-Shelby.

That sucks....I thought they had already aquired right of way. But it is part of I-69, not I-269 (as far as funding goes)?

Can't say for sure on that. I have not spent a lot of time researching the whole I69/269 project.
