Does anyone know of a decent 400 m track that's open for public use? I'm looking for a place to do track workouts once a week. I've driven by the one near the Fairgrounds but other than football, I've not really seen anyone using it and the gates are always locked.

Tracks at East High School are open to the public.
Looks like Halle Park has a track too, not familiar with that one. City of Memphis - Print Content

The University of Memphis has a track and hardly anyone uses it and it's open to the public. You'll like it, trust me.

I agree with all replies.

East High School: This is located on Poplar Ave near the Main Library (not too far from Poplar and Highland intersection. Track is about .5 to 1 mile west of that intersection.

Halle Stadium: This is located on Mt. Moriah Rd. near Mendenhall. This track is righ next to a police precinct so it should be pretty safe most of the time.

The U of M: This is located on Central between Goodlett and Highland. To get to the track take Central to Zack Curlin and go south on Zack Curlin. The track is just to the south of the U of M library.

There is also a track that is open to the public in Orange Mound at the Melrose High School football stadium (Near Park Ave. and David St.. However, use caution because that neighborhood is rough.
