In addition top the slaves, the Egyptians sent black Nubians to Veracruz to fight Mexico on behalf of France. The big difference between Mexican immigrants to the USA and European and Asian immigrants is that most of the Europeans and Asians have arrived legally. Contrasted with millions of Mexicans who disrespected the laws and entered illegally. Citizens of most countries don't think highly of lawbreakers.
At one time Mexico City was 80% black and Afrodescent.

And Mexico for the first 2 and a half centuries of the post 1492 Slave trade in the western hemisphere received the majority of slaves. Only later on did the proportions and rates shift

There was natives and the conquistadors mixed with them (some). I am very dark skinned with big hazel eyes I'm extremely hairy facial hair, chest hair and leg hair. Everywhere I go people think I'm arab. So truth is I know I'm mixed however the percentages of admixture can only be determined with a test. Keep in mind that there are many many tribes of natives in Mexico. The Aztecs only had more recognition because of their large civilization. We also have Tarahumara indians,Tepehuanes, Huichols to name a few and they look nothing like aztecs. So to answer your question the majority of the Mexicans are Mestizo which is native and european admixture. Remember people have been mixing back and forth since colonial times so looks are going to vary from person to person. Basically any race can be found in Mexico because after all it did receive immigration waves although not as large or diverse as the U.S.
Most mestizos have African admixture as well. Mestizo really just means mixed. Most mestizos are triracial

"White" is self-declared by census respondents. Anybody can say anything, and that is what the census enumerator will write down. That is the case in the national census of both the USA and Mexico. And, as far as I know, every other country in the world that even asks that question.

That's why there are so many more Native Americans now than there were a hundred years ago. Then, people were ashamed to be Indian, now they are proud of it, and even lie about it to get college admissions and casino profit shares. Similarly, in Texas, people are proud to be Mexican, but would not admit it (even to a census-taker) in most northern or southeastern states.

As far as I know in warfare it was considered common practice to slaughter nearly everybody you were fighting against.

Starting with the Great Famine in 1315 and the Black Death of 1348–1350, the population of Europe plummeted. The period between 1348 and 1420 saw the heaviest loss. In Germany, about 40% of the named inhabitants disappeared. The population of Provence was reduced by 50% and in some regions in Tuscany 70% were lost during this period.

Immediately on the tail of this massive population loss in 1434 Gil Eanes sailed round Cape Bojador, thus destroying the legends of the ‘Dark Sea’. The Europeans had discovered they could get to sub-Saharan Africa.

So the world was discovered at a time when massive death was very common. The idea that these new people were not just different ethnicities, but a different subset of humans was formed. Although there are traces of the concept of "race" in earlier times, the idea became the normal way of thinking.

By the 18th century the color coding of races became widely published. While originally there were four races (White, Black, Yellow and Red) a fifth race of brown people was soon added by writers of the day.

All attempts to formally codify the characterstics of the human species into formal scientific subgroups have failed. The color coding remains a social norm only.

Without any scientific basis on how to subdivide people into racial groups, government has resorted to "self identification" by individuals. You simply say the group to which you belong.

Since "brown" is not an option, as it wasn't a common racial identification in America until recently, Latinos are faced with the choice of "white" or "other". A significant percentage choose "other" but the majority choose "white".

The census bureau has so far resisted the suggestion to list White, Black, Asian, “Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander” , Other and Latino all in one choice box. This box would not use the words "race" or "ethnicity" so that people would not argue about the meaning of the words.

While the choices are a little confusing for Latinos, the lumping together of East Asian, South Asians, Southeast Asians, and Western Asians (or the Middle East) is also deeply confusing.

I noticed that while on vacation on the drive to coastal Acapulco from Mexico City, the people that live in the outskirts and middle of Aca were really dark. And I consider myself a semi-dark mex american but these people just seemed different and I've been all over Mex, it felt like I was in the jungles of Bolivia or Haiti.
I remember seeing political billboards with a darker politician and his slogan was (translated) "with Guerrero on his skin" (con Guerrero en la piel).

Mexico is like several nations in one. To me, the typical northern Mexican - not from a border city or place with many migrants from elsewhere - is someone who is mostly Spanish - but with some noticeable native ancestry, like perhaps 1/4th or less. Many have hazel, green, or even blue eyes and light skin. A few may look very white...virtually unmixed. (Like the rancher to the right...)

A group of ranchers from Chihiahua. http://www.elcirculorojo.com.mx/wp-c...3/DSC_0201.jpg

By contrast, southerners who are "Mestizo" tend to be more native than Spanish - very brown and black haired, but enough Spanish/African ancestry to give the hair a wave.http://www.formulabcs.com/wp-content...a-la-gente.jpg Like these from Guerrero.
(And guess which one in the last picture is a member of congress?).

It's funny how one of the first presidents of Mexico was black, Mexico abolished slavery decades before the south did, and Mexico took in black slaves as refugees from the civil war, The Afro-Mexican population ranges from 200 to 500 thousand and yet people in the U.S think there is a racial war going on, like if Mexican is an actual race...instead of a nationality. I also want to point out that some Mexican generals did side with the confederates though.

Here is a video of a couple of teenagers from Monterrey, Mexico fooling around.

They say a racial war is going on because the vast majority of Mexican Americans(like 99%) are Mestizos (whether they lean toward their Euro side or their Indigenous side). Also most Americans (except Whites, Blacks and East Asians) identify with their ethnicity (ie Mexican,Turkish, Armenian, Colombian, Indian...etc) and not racially (a lot of them consider their ethnicity their race).
