We want to take the ABC bus from Tijuana to Ensenada. We'll be walking across the border from San Diego. Where is the best place in Tijuana to get tickets and board the bus? Thanks ...
There's an article in the Reader dated July 13, 2013, all about the ABC bus to Ensenada, and where to catch it. Search for it, and you'll get all the information that you need. San Diego Reader.
Walking across the bridge on your left will be a bunch of Taxis. Tell one guy you want the Autobus station for the ABC bus going to Ensenada. Before getting into the car ask how much for the ride as the station is close by and it would be about $5 or so depending on how many people.
From the border I took the Taxi ($5) to the nearest Route Taxi going to Rosarito ($1.50) and then ($1) Route Taxi to my home here in Primo Tapia.....can't beat those prices.
It's within walking distance when you cross the border. Yellow taxis charge more because they wait for the tourists. I normally take the white taxis because they charge less, and they're also in my neighborhood.
One thing about not knowing exactly where the place you want can be a problem. Walking from point A to point B is okay if the walking route is known and NOT too far. On the other hand a piece of mind and time may be worth a couple of $$$ for a Taxi.......we all look at things differently.
My first time in Mexico City took a Taxi to my hotel was $20......return trip to the Airport $8 plus a $2 tip for the guy being honest with his meter......two different people.
Thanks, all. We'll probably walk to the bus station described in the Reader article. When I tried to look for the bus station on Google maps, I had found one that was "closed", and I couldn't figure out whether that was the one described in the article or a different one.

The Central Bus station in Tijuana is 5 or 6 miles from the border. But there was an outdoor place within easy walk where you can catch buses as far as Ensenada (every 30 minutes). You don't need a taxi.

Choose Tijuana ABC Linea for the border instead of Tijuana ABC Central or Aeropuerto Tijuana http://www.abc.com.mx/
From the border (La Linea) you can go to 9 destinations. Choose Ensenada Central or Ensenada Calle Sexta. For future reference, you can go to 21 destinations from Central bus terminal, or 2 destinations from the airport. If you are planning a longer trip (like La Paz), you must go take a taxi to the Central bus station and board your bus there.
Calle Sexta is four blocks closer to the Marina than the Central Bus terminal in Ensenada.
It looks like it is the same price from the border (ABC Linea) to Ensenada (US$12 one way) regardless of the stop. It appears that Calle Sexta is the first stop, and Central is the second stop. There is no reason to go to Central as it is more distant from the Marina.
I'm pretty sure there is an ATM in Viva Mexico shopping center where you can get pesos.
