I have no intentions on visiting the border cities at this moment. I want to visit Monterrey, Aguascalientes, Veracruz, and Puebla, among a few places.

I noticed I felt rather tall compared to usual when I was in Mexico and I'm only 5'8".

I'm only 5'8" and I felt pretty tall in most parts of Mexico I visited.

You were in Southern Mexico. You can't generalize in this case because Southern Mexico is going to be difference from Baja. Baja is going to be different from Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas. It depends on where you go.
