That place that you work at sounds tacky though...
it's not racism i was getting at..
but being hypocrites.
ie. Mexicans complain about Americans being ruthless, evil, racist, and just horrible people.
And yes.. that workplace was horrible.
They called people in the US, pretending to be interested in purchasing people's Timeshares, but in actuality, scam people out of money through transactions.
TiP: if you ever get a call, especially if it's from Mexico, about someone wanting to purchase your Timeshare, HANG UP.

Yeah but not all Mexicans see Americans that way. Actually, many look up to the US and then criticize everything in Mexicans culture and society.
But I see your point. Everyone can be a hypocrite, one way or another.

no you're right.
i was generalizing.
im still a bit salty about how i was fired. Snitching was the last thing on my mind.
and the dudes who snitched were supposedly my "buddies".
i just felt betrayed.
My Mexican neighbor told me: never trust people, being a foreigner, all they see is dollar signs and will try to use you for all you're worth.
Overall, i love Mexico.
the people are extremely nice and helpful.
ie. this morning i had to get to a meeting in cuahacon, about an hour away.
i had to catch the taxi but after 3 or 4 refused to take me.
a few guys across the street called me over and looked it up on their GPS,
then flagged down a taxi and told the driver in spanish where i wanted to go.
Unbelievable.. that would never happen in the States.
This thread with it's TITLE throws me a curve since I see the country in a different way.
It all comes down to Who you Know along with What you Know.
I was fortunate during first time in Mexico City meeting and knowing 2 Dentists, 4 Lawyers, 1 Judge, 1 Cardiologist, who all lived in APTS and were just Avg people and never Uppity in any way.
Having a Govmt connection (later on my wife) I had a VIP tour at the VW plant in Puebla (this was based upon my VW expertise/background)......so you see where it pays to Know somebody along with What you Know.
Also met the Editor of a Sports Mag that ran an article/photo of my race vehicle that I had exhibitioned in MC also being on the 8 PM TV newscast. (pats back)
Big deal, you say. Yes it is a big deal if a person goes down there with some knowledge or background while a person that goes down there to work in a non profession job will just get min wage when unable to speak Spanish even with a Legal work permit etc......same could/would be said about any Hispanic going up to the US w/o speaking any English will only get min wage....a two way street.
As for Sean here he has an attitude that bounces out on his posts here and on another thread. He is not a Pro educatedperson to use any degree in Mexico thus the hardships. Even with a Mexican BIL and not able to speak any Spanish will be major problem since all communicating is done in Spanish as I found out many times.
Oh yes, they will have a hand out for all of your money and your blood if possible since you are NOT Mexican and as for friends........they will BITE you behind your back (personal experience)
After 20yrs retired in Mexico I have learned a bunch.
Sorry for the lashing as I mean well for all concerned.

White people CAN suffer racism anywhere! I have experienced it here in the states! How rude, and unsympathetic of you to think that. Hopefully, you'll experience some!
Ricardo Anaya, president of the PAN party and aspiring president of Mexico in 2018 looks Mexican to me, what are you talking about?
na.. look at his eye color, hair color, and fair skin.
he looks mixed to me at the very least, if not 100% Spanish/European.
if you dropped him off in Germany, no one would bat an eye.

i agree, connections/networking is what can make or break a person.
especially in Mexico.
People always know somebody that can do this or that.
it's definitely good to have connections, especially people in government.
Actually, i am educated.
can't you tell by how i communicate?
i have an Associates but it's kind of useless if you can't speak Spanish.
my dream job is to teach English.. but not knowing Spanish is a real problem.
An option, if all else fails, teach English privately.
FYI: i don't have an attitude..
im Buddhist & Socialist.
i treat people like how i want to be treated.
i do tend to be too honest at times.. just my nature.
