Wow! When were those homes built? I thought that was illegal?
I remember checking out Country Walk when we were looking to buy a home and falling in love with the look of the homes there. I looove front porches. My husband said no way in hell were we buying there because of the wood construction. We ended up in the Hammocks instead. Finally did find my front porch home though. No wood except for the roof.

apparently its not illegal in monroe county. after hurricane andrew dade county put in place much more sophisticated building codes for hurricanes and broward immediately adopted them as well. not so for monroe county. their belief is basically that if they get hit all bets are off since being so close to sealevel it will probably scrape the islands clean down to the limestone bedrock anyhow.
