I received my State Farm renewal notice this week. My premium went from $3000 (2010 -'11) to $8300 (2011-'12) for the exact same coverage. An increase of 276%!

How in the world can they get away with this?

ridiculous, I was dropped by my insurer and ended up in citizens. My premium went down more than 50%

I guess it's 2006 all over again.

They dont want to insure florida anymore. Theyre doing this to end service with their florida customers. Give them an unreasonable offer so they will voluntarily quit the policy and go away.

My thought also. We are in search of another insurer.

Been with SF since 1967 and with our current agent since the mid 70s. Service has been great (we've made less than 10 claims for both cars and house). Feel bad for my agent - he's going to lose a lot of long time clients....

Did you call anyone and ask why?? Was there any justifcation except that they do want out of FL??? AND, to be honest, I think that needs to be forwarded to all our representatives and the insurance commisioner.

SO sorry that this has happened to you.

I immediately called my agent and was told that almost all policy renewals are coming in at $6000/yr or higher. Agent was very sympathetic and I could tell that he is prepared to lose a lot of clients. As to why, it seems that SF raised rates because they could, thanks to legislation passed this year.

I refuse to buy insurance for my home. It is a scam for something I will never need.

Not an option for most of us with mortgages.
