Wynn endorses Miami Beach for casino site - Miami-Dade - MiamiHerald.com (http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/11/09/2494150/las-vegas-gambling-mogul-eyes.html - broken link)

I don't see this happening as I have seen it voted down in the past in Miami Beach.

Wynn is the best in this business. If Miami Beach does not take a very very close and good look at this now, especially if this bill get through early next year they will only lose. Miami Beach is a fantastic spot for this. Miami Beach just has to not be stupid. But knowing the things they have done in the past who knows.

I like the idea, as long as it is a high-end casino like he has done in the past.

Miami Beach is a lousy spot for a casino. There's nothing wrong with it as is and putting another resort there will only concentrate the wealth even more.

Downtown is a better spot as it needs to be revived and the casinos will help do this; provided, as I have said here many times before, they are held to strict design guidelines, i.e.- street-side shopping, dining, etc. If they're allowed to build their box and put all their toys inside (which is what they want to do,) they might as well not even be built.

Wynn pushed to build plenty of monstrosities in Las Vegas which are now faltering. He has a pocket full of funny money to blow in Miami during yet another building boom. Of course you know what happens next. Some historic properties get demolished, a White Elephant gets built and in a few years goes bankrupt. Same old story decade after decade.

What? Yes that historic parking lot
Same old story? Want to share these stories? Especially on Miami Beach. One of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. A casino on Miami Beach is a gold mine.

Mega-Casino Developer: Miami Beach Prime Location for Resort Casino | NBC Miami

Steve Wynn is from Miami Beach, so this explains his interest and for the fact it is an ideal resort location.

But gambling casinos are still illegal in Florida except on indian land or on existing pari-mutuels. I guess these casino companies are going to pay off the Florida legislature to get their way. If you want to legalize casinos in other places, make it everywhere not just for the mega-corporations.

^^^I think that is what they will need to do. They may not make as much from the Indians but will make the difference from Wynn maybe.
