Your right, Mitt Romney is about as midwestern as snooki, or the situation. lol He is not one of us, and he has not been in many many years. He is an elitist northeasterner, long ago lost the right to call himself a Michigander. That doesnt mean I dont think hes the lesser of two evils, because I do. He is not one of us however.

More like the Republican Party has turned into a barrel of nuts. George Romney was a moderate, common sense Republican.
I don't know about Mitt but George wouldn't survive in today's extremist right wing party.

Reagan couldn't survive in today's Republican Party. He would be purged like so many others have been who are even slightly moderate.

^^ Possibly even Bush, since Fox contributors said he was too liberal on some issues.
Mitt recently said that he favors in addition to the age, citizenship and birthplace requirements in the Constitution, a provision that the president has worked for three years in business ("worked in" meaning what - having a job?).

Both parties have become extreme. Your right there are alot of radicals in the republican party. I would say the Democratic party is even more radical. Obama is the most radical socialist president this nation has ever had. Thanks to him the goverment is now involved in our health care industry, banking industry and the auto industry. The speaker of the house was Nancy Pelosi a few years ago, and she is a socialist radical. Joe Liberman was purged from the Democratic party for being too moderate. He is a genuinely good man, and has served centrist Conneticut voters for years, but that was not good enough. The modern democratic party would reject Clintons centrism of 20 years ago, and they would be appauled at other historical democrats like JFK or Truman because of thier use of the military, cold warrior ways and centrist views. Only FDR is admired because of his introduction of big goverment solutions to great depression. Im not saying the same issue is not as bad in the republican party because its at least almost as bad. McCain and Romney both are criticized for not being conservative enough, and a large part of the republican party is becoming extremist. The harsh reality is the fact that this nation is polarizing itself in a dangerous way. Our national unity is in danger and if a true crises presents itself now we may no longer be a united people. Its not hard to see a future of trouble, red state vs blue, occupier vs tea party and then tanks in the streets. Ronald Regan may not even recognize the America of today.

Gotta love danielj. If you don't drive an f150 or you're from Ann Arbor, you're not one of us and are repulsive and un-American. Lets forget for a moment it was Bush who authorized the bank bailouts and the first round of the auto bailouts. I love how he throws around radical socialist. Canada would be a radical socialist country in his eyes, however the enjoy a better quality of life than Americans.

BTW, Ronald Reagan would absolutely recognize the America today since he quadrupled the national debt, had near double digit unemployment and record inflation.
