Ha! I'll take the cold over heat and humidity ANY day. I walk my dogs most mornings before work, I don't care how cold it is really. I have a balaclava; a hat that I can pull down to cover my whole face except my eyes. That helps a lot.

On the other hand I have a friend who has no thyroid. She does take medication to compensate but because of this she cannot tolerate cold weather. She keeps her house at about 80 degrees; I can't spend too long there, it's suffocating.

True, but unlike Florida and the heat, the cold doesnt leave you. It just gets worse at night.

The humidity in Florida doesn't go anywhere at night, and the humidity is what makes much of Florida so miserable from roughly April-October. So the temp might drop to 85 degrees overnight...big deal, it's still miserable when you figure in the humidity...and the bugs.

As much as I don't enjoy cold winter weather, I will take it any day over summer in Florida with 98 degrees and 95% humidity for days on end.

Yes. You cannot drive here in the summertime. You have to swim everywhere because of the swamp.

Or use a rowboat to get through the swamp. I suggest starting upper body exercises now. Everyone in Michigan is tremendously strong, due to rowing and swimming everywhere during the summer. We're all Supermen and Superwomen. Start exercising now!

I have lived in FL and of course MI. I am not a fan of cold but the humidity in FL is horrible. The summers last 7 months and even inside you feel sweaty. I am always cold too but I always felt gross and even swelled from it.

Sometimes people will ask why we don't drill water wells in the winter......I just can't believe they have to ask.

Wimp .

Just kidding of course. I have heard people ask that on several job sites, the first time I thought they were joking... nope, just clueless. I can't think of another profession that would suck as hard as drilling a well in the middle of winter.

That would be brutal.

About the time this thread was initially posted, we in Genesee county along with many other places were under a severe ice storm (I along with many of my neighbors were without power for up to seven days.) The utility workers from different states were up here working on power lines, downed trees and other hazards around the clock. Some friends and I were huddling at a McDonalds to stay warm and charge various devices one afternoon when a crew of utility workers from Illinois came in. One of my friends jumped up to the counter and paid for their meal, which was really nice.
