Have any of you ever gotten special license plates that show the branch of service you were in and the military action you served in? If you did, did anyone ever comment on your plates in a positive/negative manner? I just recently got my Navy plates and was just curious. Main reason why I got them was to make it easier to remember my license plate number. There are at least four other employee vehicles the exact same model and color as mine and I have a hard time memorizing my other license plate. This one has only three numbers.
I have had my Army plates for a year now. Nobody has said anything to me yet...but I also had 2 stickers on the back window and for some reason someone rip one off grrr
We didn't get the plates, as they cost extra. I just don't understand folks wanting to pay the government MORE than their share - to announce to others that they've ALREADY done their 'part'. Really, they should be free or at least reduced price. But until they are, we'll just go with the standard plates.

I agree they should be the same cost or even free.
I think the poster is referring the a report that was put out last year by the Department of Homeland Security that label veterans as a terrorist threat.
No, I was thinking of the Chicago Lawyer who keyed a Marine's car because of military decals on the car.
Ohio has both "veteran" and "retired" plates for all 5 branches of the military. (May have USPHS: I've never checked) You can also pay extra, as I've done, to personalize your plates within 6-space alpha/numeric spaces. I've paid the freight to honor all of the USAF aircraft I've worked on and am working thru the bases I was assigned to starting this year. I get an occasional "thumbs up" or who knows, someone may have figured out what my plate says.
No plates, but I've had a 101st Airborne magnet on my car for years.
A few months ago I blew thru a red light (totally by accident - did'nt see it until it was too late and when I jumped on the brakes I slid right through the intersection) and got pulled over. When the cop noticed my magnet he asked me if I was a vet. I told him yes, 101st in Desert Storm and he let me off with a warning.

I have a Hoosier Veteran plate on my car. It cost me an extra $15 because it's a specialty plate. Never any negative comments
