In fact, Tosa (Mayfair in particular) is responsible for sparking a lot of racial tension over the past few years.
I honestly don't know the voting trends of Wauwatosa, but I just want to point out that there plenty of places across the country that are "liberal" without having many people of color.

Also, Mayfair is a private company that attracts shoppers from all over the metro, so I don't think it's fair to say that the mall's decisions reflect the sentiments of Wauwatosa residents.

Again, I don't know the specifics of Wauwatosa partisanship. I'm just throwing out a different perspective.

Except that you can literally tell where Milwaukee ends and Tosa begins by the race of the people who live on a given block.

If Tosa were somewhere up north or out near Minnesota, I could understand the lack of color, but when they're right next to the most minority-heavy census tract in the state?

True, but it still reflects poorly on its residents. Especially when there doesn't seem to be any resistance to their more controversial policies.

When private companies in Milwaukee have made such decisions, it's usually resulted in protests, letter-writing campaigns, phone calls to the media, etc. I could be wrong, but as far as I know, all such things that have happened as a result of Mayfair's decisions have come out of Milwaukee, not Tosa.

So, I would really like to hear your explanation for this. What exactly is Wauwatosa doing that is racist and/or conservative to drive this outcome? Are you saying there are no other reasons that the areas could have this difference*?

*Now, I'm not in the area every day, but I drive through and frequent businesses in the area fairly often. I don't think the difference is as stark as you depict, but please explain away whatever difference that exists.

Don't feel bad, almost everyone who majors in business doesn't know anything else.

Perhaps because business men have destroyed my country, the one I fought and bled for OR my mom dropped me on my head or both.
Not to mention he said it and, against my better judgement I felt sorry for him.

Why are you so nice?

I can see your point. The first one. The second one is just funny.

Honestly, I'm not so sure that Wauwatosa is necessarily doing anything... it's more a matter of what they're not doing. Mayfair's policies came up earlier, and it's pretty telling that the overwhelming majority of the people who were protesting them were black and from Milwaukee. If one of the most visible businesses in my community adopted discriminatory policies, I'd damn sure let it be known that I don't endorse them and that their values certainly don't reflect my own or those of the people who live here. But Tosa, collectively, seems to have the typical suburban mentality of "keep your mouth shut until it effects you personally." This despite many people swearing how different it is from places like Brookfield and Waukesha.

But you are right in that Wauwatosa isn't all that different from the western part of Milwaukee's northside... which makes the fact that North Milwaukee is 95% black and Tosa 95% white that much more staggering.

Well SOMEONE keeps sending American jobs overseas... and then hide behind flag-waving politicians who love to point fingers at anyone who opposes them for their alleged lack of patriotism.

Maybe BigCur was being a tad "blunt," but based on my dealings with business majors, I really can't say he's wrong.
