"practically feral"? What does that mean? Actually, they're wild, and native. "Feral" refers to a non-native formerly domesticated animal that now lives as if wild.

Squirrels have adapted well to urban and suburban settings. Covering up the holes they got in through, and taking the live-trapped ones FAR away, is the only way short of killing them. They can find their way back from a few miles. If you can re-locate them to the other side of a river it helps.

Love squirrels. Don't shoot them. They were here before we were!

I've shot squirrels (probably illegally) in my NE Mpls home, but wouldn't recommend it. They die slowly and painfully... I felt like the troll under the bridge doing it. After killing 3, I live trapped the rest to clear out my attic infestation, then nailed over the opening they were getting in.

Trapping or killing squirrels is like sucking all the air out of one end of a room with a vacuum cleaner - they refill the space as quick as you can clear 'em out.

I've tried moth balls but I think they are just too small, even when I could hit them with one, it never had much effect on them

You people know that the only difference between a Rat and Squirrel is their tail? Rats dont have fur on theirs, Squirrels do.

Kill the squirrels. They are rodents. They are pests. And they are overpopulated. Let the BBs fly is what I say.

Ghengis - LOL! I couldnt rep you again - apparently you have to spread it out!

Thanks, have to admit I borrowed some of that from Jack Handy...

"Sometimes when I feel like killing someone, I do a little trick to calm myself down. I’ll go over to the person’s house and ring the doorbell. When the person comes to the door, I’m gone, but you know what I’ve left on the porch? A jack-o-lantern with a knife stuck in the side of its head with a note that says “You.” After that I usually feel a lot better, and no harm done."
