Probably because it's a good crossection where different bus lines meet as well as demographics also with easy access to highways for getaway, etc. Not to mention it's just plain busy. I lived not far away from there and had a friend who lived exactly at Franklin and Hennepin (the old brick? apt. building on the corner). That kind of area is going to have higher incidence of crime no matter where in the world you are: high traffic, mixed income levels, freeway access, retail and drinking establishment and lots of people = potential crime. That's just life.

I just think it shows how hot sports exist in neighborhoods, with the whole rest of the neighborhood being way cleaner. People should get that. You can't make a blanket statement about most areas of town. Further you get from the hot spot, more like a really good town you are.

Are we looking at different maps? I went back the last month of violent crimes. Nothing in the northern Wedge. Everything was further east in Whittier/Stevens Square or south closer to Uptown and Nic/Lake.
