why dont they build more public transportation to more suburbs (Minneapolis: home, versus)

It isn't going to do you a lot of good to complain about this when the state is in the act of shaving billions of dollars from its budget for the next couple of years.

With all due respect, you would've been amongst the minority population in the suburbs who wanted rails before it became the fashionable thing to do like 2-3 years ago.

Also, the northstar corridor and a southwest line are in the works, it has proven to be a very long and tedious process as exemplified by the central corridor and Hiawatha line.

One of the problems with suburb to suburb transit is that the layout of the suburbs (with individual buildings typically surrounded by vast parking lots) is not condusive to transit riders. Its quite different to walk from the Nicollet Mall LRT station to your office two blocks away at the IDS Center (via skyway or sidewalk, your choice) versus walking from a suburban station 3-4 mega-blocks to your office building.

Despite the above, I wouldn't mind if they were to have an LRT line extend from the Mall of America down I-494 to Eden Prairie Center (serving to link the ends of the Hiawatha and proposed SW lines together).

I would use it too. Friend of mine takes the bus from Golden Valley to Downtown, then gets back on a bus to get home to Plymouth.

There was a rail line that went West from Minneapolis, through St. Louis Park, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Spring Park, Mound, St. Bonifacius, and all the way to Hutchinson that might have been good for a western suburb commuter line.

It is in the process of being turned into a bike trail now though.

I would have been perfectly happy to see more parallel bus routes.

What I would have loved was some easy way to get from Pilot Knob Road along 494 to the Mall of America -> Southtown -> France Ave -> Radisson South (or whatever it is now) -> Eden Prairie Center -> Downtown Hopkins -> Knollwood -> Ridgedale, and so on.

That arc covers a fair percentage of the places I would visit for shopping, entertainment, etc.
