I just returned from a weekend in the cities, and got somewhat of a feel for many neighborhoods. What i'm really looking for is urban density with relatively affordable SF housing options. I went through uptown and really liked the density, but I question affordability and housing availability.

I went through the phillips area- too transitional. Went through longfellow and seward, which were nice but didn't really provide the density I'm looking for. I was in an area just north of the U (i think) called Northeast (past Nye's on Hennepin). What's that area like?

Can you compare and contrast the areas I visitied in terms of public transit, current population and trends, crime, etc?

All in all, very beautiful cities with a lot of people out enjoying themselves!
