No I don't really like it, but have no problem tolerating it.

I was going to say no at first, but decided to vote indifferent. The only thing I really, really hate about winter is driving in it(I have a horrible winter vehicle). It can sometimes be pretty, but by this time of year I am ready for spring. I do like snowshoeing, and I love how it feels when it has been bitterly cold for some time, and the temps finally get to be around 30 degrees. It feels so warm.

I gotta try that in my garage... hey, actually that vinyl sided garage IS warmer than outside. You might be onto something.

It's a sort of cultural litmus test. Some people look at a suburban photo like this and are appalled at the Little Boxes on the Prairie scene; others say, "Hey that looks like home! It's up and structurally sound, it's clean & safe, my neighbors all speak English. That's OK by me."

Same here. Some look at these old city houses and go, "ugh, huge money pits! Inefficient heat sieves, 100 years old and coming apart at the seams, endless work, crackhead neighbors." And they're right.

Others (like me) say, it looks like home. My neighborhood isn't nearly this nice & tidy right now, but if there were more people around with a bit of money and interest, the houses are still here. I've got one right next door looking for a new owner... come and see it.

I like early winter. When the season is still fresh and new.

November, when the brown vegetation still pokes through the modest snow cover, when it's blustery but still not all that cold.

Early December, when the snow is fresh and clean and it's still not too cold.

But by Christmas and later, it's old. The snow surface has gone through multiple thaw/freeze cycles and is crusty, not powdery. And it's dirty, because the dirt from each layer never melts. The trucks have sanded, the plows have thrown the sand into the snowbanks, and the winter world gets filthy, at least until the next snowfall. Then everything looks clean again, for about 24 hours. And January and February are simply cold.

hey, neat nice and manicured neighborhoods are one thing.

Newly developed subdivisions from a former cornfield with no trees and siding and shingle colors of only 3 options just looks silly.

I'm assuming most of these suburban subdivisions will look respectable once large trees grow to give the place some privacy and character but early on it's just funny lookin'.

I wouldn't mind if there were more building layout options/colors/designs.... Town Lakes in Albertville does a great job at this : Towne Lakes - A Master Planned Community in Albertville, MN

I like the cold, just not the copious amount of snow we've gotten this year. Still, I love winter. I wouldn't want to live somewhere that didn't get four seasons.
