Didn't find much about this after searching...

Assuming you DON'T like any of this (because I'm sure some of us Minnesotans do like some - or all - of this), I am wondering what you find least likable when it comes to Winter in Minnesota?

Cold
Snow
Dark
Other

For me (aside from the mud/salt) I think the early sunset/earlier darkness is something I really don't like. More so than the cold.

For me it's the early darkness/gray, low blanket cloud cloudy days, with cold a close second. One you didn't mention, and I mean this seriously, is the hibernation of the people. We used to literally go 5 months without seeing some of our neighbors. Then in April, it was like a bear coming out of his/her cave. Our neighbors would then say some passive-aggressive comment like "haven't seen you in awhile?!....." All the while I'm thinking, "yeah, but not on account of me!" lol.

Some might consider that a benefit. Prince - "the cold keeps the bad people out".

That there are times when there isn't snow on the ground.

Are you kidding? The snow/ice maintenance, hands down. Shoveling, snow blowing, roof raking, car dusting, road clearing.....freggin' nightmare.

Having to bundle up kids for 6 months of the year is no picnic, either.

We moved here from the DFW metroplex and I also lived in north Georgia for 20 years. Those places have the perfect winters to me, because you do usually get a small taste of winter every year without it overwhelming you the way it does up here. Any further south than DFW or Atlanta, though, and I agree....too warm for too long. I also lived in Houston for 7 years and absolutely hated it because of that.

DFW or Atlanta don't have four seasons, or any type of well defined seasons. The very strong sun angle overwhelms everything most of the time, leading to far more frequent droughts as well.
