Oh, that's what they are talking about. I think it's a more efficient way of speaking.

Back in high school we sang the Hallelujah Chorus. And our choir director would get so frustrated with us because we couldn't pronounce the word Hallelujah. We all pronounced it like we just got off the boat from Sweden.

Minnesotans (northern branch) sound exactly like Canadians from Sask, Man. and Alberta. Except the don't say "Eh".

Only way to tell them apart.

"Going shopping. Wanna go with?"

Sure. Normal English.

Me, silly. Or us. Depends on context.

You wouldn't want your lips to break off, either. Besides, you wouldn't be able to see my lips through my frosted beard, anyway, so how could you tell?

It's funny I never noticed the accent when I lived in Minneapolis but I can really hear it down here in southern Minnesota.

They have it in the cities too. Especially in the suburbs.

That's funny, I do the same thing. NY, the deep south, western Canada... even here when I get around someone here I start drifting into an accent.

And olecapt is absolutely right. The accent is largely interchangeable.

No way. I feel the best way we talk is like the people on the Weather Channel. I don't think that's too accenty.

I get a lot of Canadian customers at the place I work, and I hear them and their eh's all the time. It's great, haha.
