Molly I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to our state and hopefully you will explore the rest of the state in the future.
Some points:
WEATHER : come visit Florida in late fall or Winter and you won't have to deal with our tropical downpours. It's usually cooler and the temps are milder.
TOLLS : I think we have become the "King" of toll roads in the South since almost every major interstate or highway is now "tolled" so if you return buy a Sunpass especially if you go to Orlando.

PS: I have driven from Omaha to Florida and have traversed Missouri which is a beautiful state with the Ozark mountains. Arkansas is boring as hell and Mississippi driving directly south out of Memphis reminded me of a third world country!

Yes...July is not ideal weather for the best travel experience to/in Florida LOL. The tolls do not bother me (especially since I don't pay them ever day). I do feel the expense is justified when one looks at what Florida has to offer. Some of the bridges and scenery are just amazing. The last time I visited Florida was in 1986 and it was Orlando area. We did drive down to Miami and saw some of the sites that were on "Miami Vice." We went across the Bay to Key Biscayne for dinner then decided it was a bit pricey for our wallets LOL. I will return...
