The one in Fairhope has a growler station, good beer selection, liquor store, and pretty big wine selection. Also the Deli is pretty good. I really hope it's similar since it's within walking distance of my place

I'm about the only Mobile poster that does from what i've seen and it's mainly been Huntsville's forum.I lived there for almost 4 years that's why I chime in on theirs. I think Mobilians are disconnected thats why they don't participate in the other forums.Hunstville and Bham are far more connected so you will see more cross forum convos between the two. We don't know anything about them and they don't know anything about us LOL :. but its all love though.

IMO, Mobile is much more isolated from the rest of Alabama and better ties in with the Gulf Coast....it's far easier and closer to go to Biloxi, Gulfport, Pensacola and even Destin and New Orleans than it is to reach Montgomery.
Birmingham and Huntsville are far closer to Montgomery than Montgomery is from us.
And our geography makes it much worse because of Mobile Bay and all the struggles it is taken to connect Mobile to the rest of the state...

I agree. Mobile/Baldwin area is just disconnected from the other parts of the state.Montgomery,Birmingham, and Huntsville are so close to each other. So they are indeed far more connected to .Mobile is that lost strayed away sheep in Alabama lol.

Great news about Greers! Although I would have preferred a Rouses or Fresh market, I'm glad its a local grocer. I'm excited about the development downtown I just hope that downtown Mobile does not become over saturated with high priced lofts/apartments. I've never believed in the if you build it they will come mantra. Hopefully we will be able to sustain the units.
Looking forward to the proposals for the Civic center.

I hope it doesn't either. The Gayfers building was suppose to have been mixed income housing. I think a shopping arcade would be perfect for it. When Same Jones was in office he talked about an Atlantic Station type of development on the Civic Center property. I have mixed feelings about that idea.

Not sure about the Atlantic station type either.
I dont know if Mobile could build big acts even with a new arena, New orleans and Biloxi are just so close. Hopefully it will be something tailored to Mobile culture. Something along the lines of a Margaritvillesque funplex. I used to be against a indoor waterpark, but it could be something to reconsider.

It would be nice if they bring a Margaritville/Escape-sque funplex with the winning ticket games and arcade games with restaurant to downtown Mobile or in West Mobile. Mobile needs to take that model from Biloxi's Margaritaville/Escape resort for their own funplex.
