He is entitled to his opinion even though majority of what he is saying has nothing to really do with the city.Mobile isn't for every one, Denver isn't for every one, Pensacola isn't for evey one, Seattle isn't for every one. That's just the way it is.

A state as financially disadvantaged as Alabama ought to look at opportunities to increase state revenue, not quote scripture. Lottery money earmarked to fund education or healthcare, not the general slush fund would be progressive, IMHO. Easing pain and suffering via medical marijuana would be progressive. And with regard to alcohol sales on Sunday....Jesus just doesn’t care!!
Natedoggbry, why the hostility? I guess the truth hurts, huh? If people like you would stop trying to impose your beliefs and values on others, the world would be a much better place....including Mobile. Buddy, I would love to take your advice and unass this AO, but my responsibilities dictate otherwise.
As I have already stated, I rue the day I accepted a job offer here. In 6 more years, I will be pension eligible, sell my house and happily leave this place. In the meantime, I will share my opinions when asked, just as you all like to make yours known.

Look I understand you are entitle your own opinion, but again you seem to have a problem with our state government rather the actual city. Which is perfectly okay, you're not the only one does not like our state government. 90% of us in Mobile do not like the state government either have you seen all the threads of how to get our coastal counties out of Alabama? Most of what you are mad about, a lot of us agree with, Lottery and Casinos (towards education and healthcare) we want. Medical Weed/ straight legalization, we want. Again its out the city's control

I too, ABSOLUTELY hate our government, I hate it. I think it is single-handley the greatest thing that holds our state back. But I know that maybe in no way represents Mobile, Mobile is nothing like the rest of the state. Its a great city with great potiential IMHO. You actually gave more compliments to Mobile than you actually says negatives toward the city. I implore you, why do you hate the city for reasons that are within its control? Do not put state issue in it, I wanna hear the city issues

“Hey let me accept a job in a conservative state and then be surprised when it’s not California and Mobile doesn’t turn into Portland.” Dude if you had a problem with all of that then you made the wrong decision. You shouldn’t get on here trashing the city because of personal mistakes that you made. Your criticisms of living here aren’t even valid criticism. It’s not, “I wish they invested more into a transportation network” or “adding more bike lanes would help promote exercise and alternate forms of travel.” Nah you just go right for stuff that the city has no control over like a lottery or weed. “Stop trying to impose your beliefs and values on others.” Hilarious considering that you don’t like it here because you can’t impose your political beliefs and values onto others

The median sale price in Mobile is 70+% higher since 2014 and the average time on market is 34 days. "stagnant"

Yea we are close to beating out 2004-2006 years, By the number those years still beat out our current year, but then again they had a much bigger supply (2500 houses) compared to what we have now (422 right now). So demand now is definitely much higher now than it was then. If we had the supply from 2005 we would be selling soooo many more houses, probably 800-1200 a month given the demand

If I'm not mistaking around that time Mobile County saw significant growth. Mobile County grew by almost 15k between 2000 and 2008.

13k from 2004-2009 about an average of 3k a year. We are near those levels, so I estimate about a 2-3k gain last year with half going to the city. A lot of the suburbs had a good year by the looks. Semmes, Saraland, Chickasaw, Satsuma, and even Prichard had pretty good years seeing how many houses were sold compared to what's left for sale. I'm willing to bet Prichard and Chickasaw will have a positive population change for 2020 year, the first in a generation. They are both selling well in their respective markets but of course not like Mobile/Semmes. Citronelle is doing ehh. Bayou la Batre and Creola....whew pretty rough

Edit: As soon as I finished typing this I find this article talking about the Chickasaw Housing market

Yes that sound about right 2004-2009. I believe one year the county grew by like 8k.It was either 2007 or 2008 not sure.
