So I've been doing some looking into in the "dangerousness" of Mobile because of the chat on the other thread. Looking at NeigborhoodScout, very few in Mobile's weight class were actually safer than Mobile. Charleston, Savannah, Virginia Beach and Lexington were the only cities that I found that were safer than Mobile looking around the South, Midwest, Rust belt and Northeast (again in our weight class)

I also decided to look at various lists for 2020, of the ones I've seen (about 2 that are 50-100 top ones and a few top 10s), Mobile doesn't appear in any of them. In the neighborhood scout, No Alabama city appears on the list. In CBS 50 list no Alabama also makes a feature

I took a look at that website, neighborhood scout, for the areas that I know - Huntsville, Madison, and Madison County, down to the neighborhood level. There seems to be quite a bit of conflicting data there, not for crime stastics (because I don't know what the answers are) but for other stats. So if those are wrong, we might be wise to question the accuracy of the crime data as well.

Yes I question the how accurate neighborhood scout is, it says it uses data directly from the feds, but I have yet to find the feds data. However it’s the only data source I’ve been able to find that seems to atleast be in the ballpark of accuracy and consistency, so unfortunately I just go with it since it’s difficult to find a city’s crime report and attempt to compare the data

Data for some areas are easier to find than others. For instance, a quick search will easily yield the homicide statistics for Birmingham and Jefferson County. But for some reason, you can't readily find Huntsville's. An al.com article, which I assume is correct even though I don't care for a lot of their politics, said that the 16th murder of the year just occurred, quite a bit higher than the year before but still pretty low for a mid-size city. Not sure why the information isn't published.

https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s...ts/alabama.xls

I did find this, not sure if this is what it references. There are several issues with this, it’s from 2018, it’s still not consistent with neighborhood scouts and well Huntsville doesn’t exist here (lol)

It’s wild to see that Mobile, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery’s combined violent crime still falls short of Birmingham’s. That’s 550k compared to 210k in population

well his business is racism, he knows that will give him a free pass on actually doing anything or being responsible. Instead of being a leader for his district he chose to be a victim and blame others for his refusal to follow rules or policy.

Nor does Madison. Strange.

Looks like Fairhope is looking to annex some land. Definitely believe they need to start annexing more land, looking at the trends, their average building permits per months have gone down over the past few months, likely because of the same issue Mobile has, less land to build on. Loxley and Spanish Fort are both twice as big as Daphne and Fairhope in terms of area.
